Many of the dogs Penny sees have issues with other dogs. Penny works with the owner and dog in a controlled environment with trained dogs of her own. An assessment session will enable Penny to see why the dog is aggressive with members of its own species. Very often this is due to poor canine communication skills couple with the owner being unaware of how he/she has reinforced their dog’s behaviour. The dog’s genetic make up also has a huge bearing on how they want to interact with other dogs.
This work is skilled and is carried out with great care and attention. Some dogs will improve in one or two sessions. Others will need longer and a few will never be able to mix happily with other dogs. Penny will always be honest and realistic with her goals. There are ethics involved also as to what methods any one should be prepared to use in order to attempt to alter a pattern of behaviour.
Pennys able home bred Whippets will assist with this work. Her new Spaniel Dougie a rescue dog is also coming on well in his training to help other dogs.
